Human Rights Council
Faculty of Political Sciences University of Banja Luka
In the period from the twenty-second to the twenty-fifth of October 2015 the second anual "Students Model United Nations" was organized by the Students Club of the Political Science Faculty and was held on the same faculty. The students were divided into 2 group in order to simulate the workings of the United Nations, one group represented the Human rights council whilst the other group formed the Security council. The novelty this year was the introduction of the Press committee. Delegates from both member state councils discussed the issue of the most recent world issue which is the migrant crisis in Europe.
The root of this problem appears to be the war which engulfed Syria recently and is the main reason for the massive migrations of the Syrian people towards European countries. For three days the ambassadors of these countries have been trying to come to a solution to this issue by bringing forth amendments until the final resolution has been brought forth. Closing down the borders of individual countries and violating basic human rights has been deemed as intolerable behaviour towards the Syrian people.
UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL
The most concrete suggestions of help, in terms of accepting a certain number of people on to their territory and financial aid so that this crisis can be averted, have been offered by Great Britain, the United States of America and Russia, the suggestions of other countries were no less significant or serious. Starting up volunteering groups and centers that would take care of the refugees and not endanger their basic human rights as is done on the borders and inside some countries that are accepting refugees is considered to be a top priority.
The European Union should vote out and create a set of rules concerning the migrants which all countries will need to abide in order to avoid the shutting of borders and confrontations with the police. Also it is quite necessary that the sanctions towards the Syrian people be lifted.
The National assembly of the Republic of Srpska
Both councils have almost unanimously voted out and created the final resolution whose contents can be viewed in the attachment. During the breaks between deliberations the delegates have had a chance to socialize and view the monuments of Banja Luka, and also visit some expos in the Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Museum of Republic of Srpska. The guest of honor of this years SMUN was the famous painter from Poland, Sylwia Gorak who presented her works inspired by the writings of Ivo Andrić.

Closing ceremony Human Rights Council
The Closing ceremony was held in the restaurant Integra, in which all participants were awarded with certificates and the best representatives of both committees were also chosen. This marked the end of this years, if we can say for ourselves a successful, SMUN which upheld the idea that making new friendships between people, who may will be the makers of politics in the days to come, is imperative to the success of global politics. With anxiety we await the next years conference and once to mark the ending of all this a saying of our people seems appropriate ,,Build bridges not walls’’
